RN9917 Firefighter Retention Refresher Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This forty (40) hour course is for current State of Florida certified firefighters that have not gained employment within the past three and a half (3.5) years from the time you have passed your State test. Please check with the State to ensure that you are eligible to take this course and be re-certified.

 This course will retrain and prepare you to retest based on current state standards over the 5 days.

 

The course is broken down into 2 phases:

 

  1. 24 hours of coursework in classroom reviewing the following;

    1. Firefighter safety and health (2 hours)

    2. Fire and life safety initiatives (1 hour)

    3. Personal protective equipment (2 hours)

    4. Structural search, victim removal, and firefighter survival (2 hours)

    5. Ground ladders (1 hour)

    6. Tactical ventilation (1 hour)

    7. Water supply (1 hour)

    8. Fire hose and fire streams (1 hour)

    9. Fire control and tactics (2 hours)

    10. Building construction (1 hour)

    11. Fire protection systems (1 hour)

    12.  Fire origin and cause determination (1 hour)

  2. 16 hours  of Practical Skills

    1. SCBA, Hose loads, Ropes & Knots, Tool tying, Ladders, Force Entry, Search, Hose Evolutions, review of practical test (16 hours)

    2. Student practical skill assessment/testing (8 hours)

 

Student will need a full set of compliant PPE

 

SCBA & mask will be provided only for the class.

You must upload a current medical form and a copy of your FFII certification (cannot be expired).

If your FFII certification expires within 6 months of the start of this course you must contact the State at 352-369-2800 to ensure that you will be able to test and recertify in this course.

MANDATORY ORIENTATION ON FEBRUARY 11 from 9am - 11am.
