DR-1 Dive Rescue 1

Course Description:  

Learn the fundamentals of dive rescue operations from scene evaluation through incident debriefing. Public safety divers and surface-support personnel are prepared to respond effectively to a water-incident scene. Topics include: overview of public safety drowning accidents; selecting, training, and equipping dive teams; family, media and other agencies relations; search pattern fundamentals; victim retrieval tactics; responding to vehicle accidents; accident scene documentation; and an introduction to specialized equipment. Programs are presented in a classroom, a pool and at an open-water training site.

 

Duration – 3 days (24 hours)

Recommended for – certified divers and surface support personnel

Required Equipment:

MUST BE SERVICED WITHIN THE PAST 12 MONTHS

  • Regulator with primary and secondary 2nd stages, pressure gauge, depth gauge, and compass
  • Buoyancy compensator with whistle attached
  • (2) scuba air cylinders, visually inspected within the past 12 months
  • Weight belt
  • Mask & snorkel
  • Fins and booties
  • Skin or light weight wetsuit (recommended)
  • cutting devices; a knife and/or rescue scissors
  • Primary (large and powerful) flashlight for use on the evening dive
