DR-Survival Public Safety Diver Survival

Course Description:  Prepare to survive your next life threatening diving situation by inoculating yourself against panic and stress. This program is designed to improve and elicit automatic responses in survival situations. Participants will learn techniques to minimize the negative effects of emotional and physiological stress based on research of public safety scuba injuries and deaths over several decades.

Classify the causes and characteristics of diver stress, identify pre-dive and dive stress, conceptualize the behavioral and psychological signs of stress, define the stages of stress, recognize factors leading to panic,  relate the coping styles for panic.

Students must purchase their own books at a cost of $85.00 plus shipping. The book kit is “Public Safety Diver Survival” and can be purchased from Dive Rescue International, 1-800-248-3483, www.diverescueintl@aol.com. The item # is 6004N and you can reference Pete Gannon as the Instructor.

Diving students must provide their own equipment: Dry suit or adequate wet suit, Scuba regulator: recently serviced and environmentally protected with alternate air source (1.e.: octupus, Air II, etc…), timing device, depth and submersible pressure guages, BC with oral and power inflator, two tanks with current Hydro and VIP, mask, snorkel, fins, weight belt, two cutting tools (knife, wire or side cutters).
